How to Stitch Your Key Fob
Step 1: Cut your thread

Step 2 - Put a knot at the end of your thread. This is a "waste knot".

Step 3: Thread your needle

Step 4: Take your needle, and put it through the front of your canvas, a 1/2 in from the heart, with your waste knot on top.

Step 5: Now you can begin to stitch!
Find the top right painted intersection of the heart, and stitch over the 1st painted intersection. You will be stitching right to left, with your thread going from "Texas to Maine."

Stitch the second painted intersection as well, using the above technique.

You've now completed your first line of needlepoint.
Then, for the next row of painted stitches, you will stitch left to right. Your needle will now go in the direction of "Maine to Texas". Or, you can think of it as stitching through the "dirty" top hole (where there is already a thread) to the clean bottom hole.

Continue stitching the heart.
Step 6: Cut off the waste knot.
After stitching a few rows, your thread is now secure. Go ahead and cut off the waste knot.

Step 7: When you get to this line, you can stitch all the way across. Then, continue stitching to the bottom of the heart.

Once you have stitched to the bottom of the heart, go back and stitch the left side of the heart.

Step 8: Securing your thread.
When you have about 1-2 inches left of thread, bring your needle to the backside of your canvas.

You will then take your needle and put it under 3 to 5 stitches on the back of your canvas, so that the thread is secure.

Trim the excess thread.

Step 9: Starting a new piece of thread.
Thread your needle, and turn over your canvas to the backside.

Similar to securing your thread (see above) you will put your needle through 3 to 5 stitches in the back of your canvas.

Leave a short tail of thread.

Then, turn your canvas to the front and begin stitching again.

Step 10: Stitching the background. Once you have stitched the heart, you will start stitching the white background. Start at the top right of the canvas, where the circle line begins.

Step 11: Cutting your canvas. Once you have fully stitched your background, it is time to cut your canvas. Carefully cut around the stitched area, leaving about 2 mesh boxes around the circle.

You can then pop your finished canvas into your key fob and you are all set!
